Deacon ordination ceremony is Sunday at St. Paul Lutheran

Henleyfield resident Larry Wagoner is scheduled to be ordained a deacon in the Anglican-Catholic Church at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2012.

The ordination will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Picayune, Wagoner said. The Anglican-Catholic Church is devoted to the practice of the historic Catholic Faith, celebrated in the Anglican tradition and in the Apostolic Order. The worship style is orthodox., including worship from the 1928 Book of Common Prayer.

Wagoner will serve the new ACC Parish of Holy Angels in Picayune, as well as Christ Church Anglican-Catholic Church in Metairie, La., which serves as the Pro-Cathedral of the Diocese of New Orleans.

Holy Angels is part of the Diocese of New Orleans. Holy Angels currently meets in the home of one of the congregants, but is growing.

Bishop Ordinary of the Diocese of New Orleans D. Presley Hutchens will celebrate the Ordination Mass. Wagoner said he has been studying for holy orders under Bishop Hutchens, the Rev. Canon John Hollister and now-retired Dean of the Cathedral the Rev. Donald Rice.

A reception will follow the Mass in the meeting hall of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
